Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. This group meets monthly to provide guidance, vote on direction and bring new ideas to the program.

New Board of Director Qualifications, Responsibilities & Application

Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers Board of Directors invites applications of individuals from the Windsor-Essex community for the appointment of one position to the Board of Directors.  

The Board of Directors will assist in fundraising and provide leadership to support the development and advancement of Crime Stoppers programs and services. The Board is responsible to oversee the activities of the organization, and administer funds and fundraising, ensuring that it is done in an ethical and transparent manner.

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who are:

·         Dynamic philanthropists & community leaders

·         Passionate for the mission, vision & values of Crime Stoppers

·         Diverse as it relates to business acumen, geographical representation, and diverse backgrounds

·         Experts in one of the following areas: governance, organizational development, fundraising, government acumen, entrepreneurships, and donor relations.

Responsibilities

The Board is responsible to oversee the activities of the Program, and administer funds entrusted to them, ensuring that it is done in an ethical and transparent manner. This is fulfilled through the following:

·         Attend regularly scheduled board meetings

·         Participate on at least one board committee

·         Understand the goals and objectives

·         Strategic oversight and fiduciary oversight

·         Donor and volunteer stewardship

·         Three-year terms

·         50 - 100 hours per year

·         Minimum of two fundraising events per year
