OPP Seeking the Public's Assistance in Relation to an Incident Involving a Firearm
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is appealing to the public for assistance in what has now been confirmed as an incident involving a firearm that occurred on September 10, 2019 in or in the vicinity of the Town of McGregor.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., Essex County OPP officers and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the report of an injured man in a parking lot in the 9500 block of Essex County Road 11 (Walker Road).
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
The exact location where the offence occurred is unknown. At this stage of the investigation, there are no suspects. The victim was being transported to hospital by witnesses, when they stopped in McGregor to await the arrival of EMS.
Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, but caution the public to always be vigilant and to immediately report suspicious behaviour to police.
Investigators are asking the driver of a small, white compact car that was driving on County Road 18 in the town of Essex between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm to please contact police. It’s believed that driver may have witnessed an exchange between the driver of a pickup truck and the driver of a van.
