OPP SEEKING ASSISTANCE IDENTIFYING BREAK-IN SUSPECT Suspect and Vehicle Caught on Camera

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a residential break and enter that occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on December 14, 2020 at a home on Draper Street in Colchester.

 The suspect was caught on security camera footage entering a window of a home. Upon the alarm sounding, the suspect fled the scene in a distinct looking black newer model Ford F150 pick-up truck with open box that contained a tool box and ladder racks.

 A photo of the suspect and vehicle is attached and the OPP ask that anyone who recognizes either, contact the Essex OPP detachment at 519-738-3796.

Major Crime Branch Investigating Shooting


On Monday, December 14, 2020, at approximately 4:30 am, Windsor Police patrol officers responded to a residence located in the 700 block of Cataraqui Street, Windsor for the report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and located an injured adult male with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The male was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was contained and an investigation was launched.

Through investigation a suspect description was obtained. The suspect is described as a male black, 6'2", 190 lbs., medium to muscular build, wearing black clothing and a black winter hat.

It is believed other persons may have been involved and in the area at the time of the shooting.

The Forensic Identification Unit attended and processed the scene.

The Major Crime Branch is actively investigating and seeking any information in relation to the incident. Anyone with video surveillance in the area is asked to check their footage for possible evidence. It is believed the suspect fled on foot, however it is unknown if a vehicle may have been waiting in the area.

Break and Enter Investigation


On Saturday November 7, 2020, at approximately 12:15 am, a vehicle with two occupants entered a storage facility located in the 3000 block of Marentette Avenue.

After gaining entry, the suspects broke into several storage units, taking multiple items with them.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark coloured Ford F350, two-tone quad cab, with dual rear tires and roof lights.

The Property Crimes Unit is actively investigating and is seeking any information in relation to the incident.

Fatal Hit and Run Investigation Update

The Windsor Police Service is actively investigating a collision between a pedestrian and a motor vehicle that resulted in the death of the pedestrian.

UPDATE:

On Thursday, November 19, 2020, officers attended the 2700 block of Chandler Road in relation to this investigation.

A van matching the description of the suspect vehicle was located and seized from a Chandler Road residence.

This remains an active investigation by the Major Crime Branch and the request for further video surveillance in relation to this incident remains.

Detectives are still seeking information in relation to the suspect driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Although a vehicle has been seized, we cannot confirm at this time, this was or was not the vehicle involved. Further investigation is required. As such, it is important the community understands the importance of continuing the search for further surveillance and to continue providing any information they may feel be related to the incident.

Again, we would like to remind the public of the time sensitive nature of some video surveillance systems. We are requesting footage be reviewed in these areas as soon as possible, and any finding be reported to us immediately.

WINDSOR POLICE LOOKING FOR DRIVER INVOLVED IN HIT AND RUN

On Sunday November 15, 2020 at approximately 8:45 PM Windsor Police were dispatched to the area of Jefferson Boulevard at Haig Avenue for a report of a collision between a child and a vehicle.

It was determined that the injured child had been a pedestrian in the area and had been struck by a motor vehicle.

Sadly, the child has passed away as result of this collision. The incident was classified as a fatal motor vehicle collision investigation.

 Investigators believe that the involved vehicle that struck the child fled the scene after the collision.

The suspect vehicle is described as a silver coloured SUV or crossover. The suspect vehicle is expected to have front end damage.

Investigators are looking to identify the involved driver and to locate the involved silver coloured suspect vehicle.

Investigators are also seeking any home or dash-cam surveillance video that may have captured the incident. Anyone who lives in the area or was driving in the area around the time of the incident is requested to review their video surveillance. 

Investigators encourage the involved driver to contact police.

OPP SEEK TO IDENTIFY MALE SUSPECT IN RELATION TO A THEFT

On November 7th, 2020 at around 5:15 p.m., a male suspect entered a local business in the Town of Essex on Talbot Road, and stole a milwaukee chainsaw and pruning saw.

The male suspect is described as a white male, slim build, white shoes, jeans and black t-shirt, with a black ball cap. The vehicle involved is a 2003 silver Jeep Liberty. Please see the photos below of the suspect and the vehicle used.

Sexual Assault Investigation

On Sunday November 1, 2020, at approximately 1:45 am, Windsor Police patrol officers responded to the 500 block of Glengarry Avenue for a report of a sexual assault.

It was reported that an adult female had been walking in the 500 block of Glengarry Avenue where the suspect, who had been hidden out of sight, physically took control of the victim and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was transported to hospital for assessment.

The suspect is described as a male white, mid-thirties, approximately 6'0" and was wearing a light blue sweater.

The Forensic Identification Unit attended and processed the scene.

Through investigation, it is believed there was vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area before, during, and after the incident. Anyone who may have been driving in the area around the time of the incident is requested to check dashcam footage for possible evidence. Investigators are also asking residents and businesses in the area to also check surveillance footage.

Major Crime Branch Investigating Multiple Shots Fired Incidents

The Major Crime Branch is actively investigating several recent shots fired incidents. As part of the investigation, detectives are examining all cases in an effort to determine if any or all of the incidents may be related.

CASE 20-96468

On Saturday, October 24, 2020, at approximately 2:15 am, patrol officers responded to the area of Walker Road and Parkdale Place for a report of shots fired in the area. Multiple callers reported hearing gunfire.

Through investigation, officers attended the 2900 block of Walker Road and located damage to a residence, consistent with shots being fired.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The area was contained and members of the Forensic Identification Unit attended to process the scene.

CASE 20-96786

On Sunday October 25, 2020, at approximately 7:45 am, patrol officers responded to the 1600 block of Factoria Road for a report of damage to a residence, possibly from an attempt break and enter.

Officers arrived and upon further investigation, the damage was believed to be consistent with shots being fired. A search of the area revealed further property damage from gunshots.

Through investigation, it was reported that at approximately 12:30 am, gunfire was heard in the area, however no reports were made at that time.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The area was contained and members of the Forensic Unit attended and processed the scene.

A vehicle believed to be related to the incident was located in the area and seized as evidence.

CASE 20-96761

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, at approximately 1:45 am, patrol officers responded to the area of Wyandotte Street East and Gladstone Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Officers located a residence in the 1400 block of Wyandotte Street East with damage from the gunshots.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The area was contained and members of the Forensic Unit attended and processed the scene.

The Major Crime Branch is actively investigating all of the above reported incidents and are seeking any information in relation to all cases.

Anyone in these neighbourhoods with surveillance cameras are asked to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area, prior to, or after the incidents. Also, anyone driving in the area at the approximate time of the incidents with dash cam video is requested to review their footage and report any findings to police.

Any suspects believed to be involved with these incidents are to be considered ARMED & DANGEROUS.

We would like to remind the public to report any suspicious behaviour of persons/vehicles immediately to police.
