Windsor Police Investigating Hate Crime

 On Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at approximately 12:00 p.m. Windsor Police Service patrol officers responded to a report of a hate motivated crime located in the 1400 block of Tecumseh Road East.  

It was reported that a suspect(s) had vandalized a business with a racist symbol and an offensive homophobic word 

UPDATE: 

Windsor Police Service responded to two more similar reports of hate motivated crimes at the same business located in the 1400 block of Tecumseh Road East over the last week. 

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Windsor Police attended after receiving a report that the property had been vandalized again with a racist symbol and homophobic and racial slurs. 

On Monday, February 22, 2021, Windsor Police attended again after receiving information that a suspect(s) had shattered the window with a brake drum. The door was also defaced with a racist symbol and a homophobic slur.  

The Morality Unit is continuing to investigate and seeking the public's assistance with any information in relation to these incidents.   

Anyone in the area with surveillance cameras are requested to check their footage for any suspicious persons or activity on the following dates and times: 

Between 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021.  

Between 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021.  

The Windsor Police Service denounces all criminal acts, especially those that promote hatred toward anyone. 

Hate crimes have a harmful impact on the community. Not only does it cause emotional trauma to the victim, it results in serious friction between different groups in our society.

THEFT OF PICK UP TRUCK IN AMHERSTBURG

On Wednesday, February 3rd, Windsor Police Amherstburg Detachment responded to the 4300 & 4400 block of Concession Road 4 North, in the Town of Amherstburg, for two separate reports of stolen vehicles. Stolen were a blue Dodge Ram and a white Chevrolet Silverado.

 The Dodge Ram was recovered in the 200 block of Bridge Avenue, in the City of Windsor, shortly after being reported stolen.

 The white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado remains outstanding. The vehicle has an aftermarket black stripe along the bottom edge. The vehicle was used in Wellington County on February 7th. Shown below is a similar photograph of the vehicle.

 Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person of interest shown below.

STOLEN BOBCAT IN THE TOWN OF LASALLE

On Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, members of the Lasalle Police Service attended a business located in the 5500 Block of Huron Church Line Road, in regards to a stolen Bobcat.

The machine was stolen sometime between January 18th and 19th.

The Bobcat is a wheeled model S770, white in colour, with a toothed bucket, and requires a code to start up.

Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying any persons responsible for this theft.

WINDSOR POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO INCIDENTS OF SHOTS FIRED WITHIN TWO DAYS

On Thursday, January 21st, at approximately 6:30AM, Windsor Police officers attended the 1000 block of Ford Boulevard for a report of shots fired.

On Saturday, January 23rd, at approximately 12:30AM, officers attended the 1500 block of Francois Road to investigate another report of shots fired.

Both investigations revealed firearm damage to residences.

Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying any persons or vehicles that may be involved in these crimes.

Armed Robbery at Belle River Business

On Thursday, January 14th, 2021, at approximately 5:45am, OPP attended the 1600 Block of County Road 22, in Town of Belle River, in regards to an armed robbery.

At that time, a male party entered the business, brandished a knife, stole a quantity of cash and fled on foot.

Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

He is described as being white, wearing a grey Under Armour Hockey hoodie with a black hoodie underneath, brown pants and black running shoes. He was also carrying a black back pack.

Shots Fired Investigation

On Sunday, January 10, 2021, at approximately 1:45 pm, patrol officers responded to the 1200 block of Central Avenue for a report of property damage believed to be from shots being fired.

Through investigation, it was reported that at approximately 4:30 am that same day, multiple loud bangs were heard in the area. A resident later located damage to both a vehicle and residence in the area.

During a search, multiple shell casings were located in the area.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The Forensic Identification Unit attended and processed the scene.

A white, older model sedan, was observed in the area at the time of the incident and is considered a vehicle of interest.

The Major Crime Branch is actively investigating and seeking any information in relation to the incident. Anyone with surveillance cameras in the area are asked to check the footage for possible evidence. Any suspicious persons or vehicles captured on surveillance footage, prior to or after the incident, is requested to be reported.

BREAK IN TO TECUMSEH ONTARIO BUSINESS

The OPP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who are wanted for Theft and Break and Enter of a business in the 1800 block of North Talbot Rd., in the Town of Tecumseh on Sunday, January 3rd, at approximately 3:51 am.

Stolen was a Casio cash register, quantity of cash, and soft drinks.

Suspect #1: white male, 18-35 years of age, heavy set, with short light hair. He was wearing a black mask, dark toque, 3/4 length winter coat, gray ACDC t-shirt, blue jeans and black footwear.

Suspect #2: white male, 15-19 years of age, thin, with dark hair. He was wearing a Michigan Wolverines ball cap, dark coloured bandana, light blue American Eagle shirt, dark winter jacket and dark footwear.

OPP SEEKING ASSISTANCE IDENTIFYING BREAK-IN SUSPECT Suspect and Vehicle Caught on Camera

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a residential break and enter that occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on December 14, 2020 at a home on Draper Street in Colchester.

 The suspect was caught on security camera footage entering a window of a home. Upon the alarm sounding, the suspect fled the scene in a distinct looking black newer model Ford F150 pick-up truck with open box that contained a tool box and ladder racks.

 A photo of the suspect and vehicle is attached and the OPP ask that anyone who recognizes either, contact the Essex OPP detachment at 519-738-3796.

Major Crime Branch Investigating Shooting


On Monday, December 14, 2020, at approximately 4:30 am, Windsor Police patrol officers responded to a residence located in the 700 block of Cataraqui Street, Windsor for the report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and located an injured adult male with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The male was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was contained and an investigation was launched.

Through investigation a suspect description was obtained. The suspect is described as a male black, 6'2", 190 lbs., medium to muscular build, wearing black clothing and a black winter hat.

It is believed other persons may have been involved and in the area at the time of the shooting.

The Forensic Identification Unit attended and processed the scene.

The Major Crime Branch is actively investigating and seeking any information in relation to the incident. Anyone with video surveillance in the area is asked to check their footage for possible evidence. It is believed the suspect fled on foot, however it is unknown if a vehicle may have been waiting in the area.
