Windsor Police Require Assistance in Identifying A Male Suspect Involved In A Sexual Assault Investigation

On Thursday May 28, 2020, at approximately 11:50 pm, patrol officers responded to a report of an assault that had just occurred in the area of Riverside Drive West and California Avenue.

An adult female victim reported she was walking alone along the riverfront near Patricia Avenue and was attacked from behind with no warning, causing her to fall to the ground. During the assault the victim was bit.

The victim received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

The victim was able to scream for assistance and the suspect fled the area.  The suspect was last seen running up the hill from the riverfront towards Patricia Avenue.

The suspect is described as a male black, 25-30 years old, wearing a black hooded sweater, loose black pants and a black baseball hat.  The suspect was also described as running very fast away from the scene.

The Major Crime Branch is actively investigating this incident and believes this to be a random incident where the victim and suspect were not known to each other.

Anyone living in the area who may have video surveillance equipment is asked to check their footage for any suspects that may match the description.  Also, anyone who may have been driving in the area and captured footage that matches the suspect description on a dash cam are encouraged to contact police.

The incident occurred just prior to midnight, however as the suspect was believed to be on foot, he may have been walking in the area prior to and after the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com
